Course up turns the map so the way you are pointing is always up the screen, and drops you towards the bottom of it so most of what you can see is the ground ahead. It holds the last bearing below walking pace, and goes back to north whenever you pan the map by hand. It loads about three times as many tiles, so download the area first if you are heading out of signal.
Creating an account needs the server token from api/config.php. After that you only ever need your email and password. The endpoint is already correct unless you have moved the app somewhere else.
If location is blocked, open iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services. A home-screen app has its own entry there, separate from Safari — set it to While Using the App and turn on Precise Location.

For a spot you can see but are not standing on. A long press on the map does the same thing without coming in here first.
Say it like this:

This works with no signal — the numbers come from the GPS in the phone,
not the network.
Downloads the area you can currently see, on the Topo layer, so it still draws with no phone signal. Pan and zoom to the area you want first.
Keep areas small. These tiles come from donated OpenStreetMap and OpenTopoMap infrastructure whose usage policy prohibits bulk downloading — a riding area, not a county.
